Research in my group is focused on synthetic organic chemistry. One area of interest is the development of synthetic techniques for the construction of novel and versatile building blocks for organic materials. Building blocks that are similar to those that we are synthesizing have been used for the construction of a wide range of organic materials including: n-type semiconductors, light-harvesting arrays, photovoltaic cells, organic field effect transistors, and organic light emitting diodes (OLED’s).
From devising and revising synthetic strategy to the wet chemical techniques for synthesizing target compounds to spectroscopic characterization, students carrying out research with me are involved in every aspect of the synthetic process.
