2008 Summer Undergrduate Research Fellowship Program

Overview

The program is designed to provide undergraduate students majoring in chemistry the opportunity to join research projects and experience first-hand how basic research is conducted. Each student selects a specific research project, where he/she works closely with a member of the chemistry research faculty. 

Participants will earn 1 hour college credit. In addition to pursuing an individual research project, students will receive training on laboratory safety, how to utilize online research databases, and how to effectively communicate research results.

The program will culminate in a final symposium at which the students present the results of their summer's efforts.

Current Session Information:  June 9 - August 1, 2008

Stipend:  Those students selected for the program will receive a summer research fellowship of $3,000.  In addition, students will also receive a housing allowance.

Research Areas:  Students have the opportunity to do research in any of the following areas:  analytical, environmental, organic, inorganic, and physical biochemistry.
