Become a chemistry major
Want to major in chemistry at Missouri State? Here are the steps and requirements you need to complete.
Your first steps: Declare your major
There are no formal admission requirements for the chemistry major. Just be admitted to Missouri State and declare your major.
- Become a Bear: Apply to Missouri State. (If you’re not already a current student.)
- Before completing 60 credit hours, contact the Academic Advising and Transfer Center to declare or change your major to chemistry.
Once you’ve declared, complete the program requirements
Choose the degree type you want and complete the requirements to earn a bachelor’s degree in chemistry.
- If you choose the non-comprehensive degree, you must have a minor or second major.
- The comprehensive degree lets you pick an option area (chemistry or biochemistry) and does not require a minor or second major.
Check with your advisor to determine which option is best for you.
